Our read
Start from the job. For digital registration and care-gap outreach, start with Notable: MUSC Health runs it across 760 departments inside Epic. For referral intake and post-surgery patient navigation, start with Commure: Compassus reports a 64% shorter referral decision time, and Mount Sinai reports shorter stays after joint replacement. For OR scheduling, test Qventus. For imaging triage, Aidoc has named hospital customers, though Temple Health's figures are not quoted here. For ACOs spread across many EMRs, test Innovaccer; for pathology labs going digital, PathAI.

Which AI platform handles patient access and digital intake?
Start with Notable if the problem is front-door work: registration, reminders, referrals and care-gap outreach. Notable presents its platform as AI agents for patient access, revenue cycle and care operations, with a low-code Flow Builder and connectors to EHRs such as athenaOne and MEDITECH Expanse.
MUSC Health is the deepest example. The South Carolina academic system runs Epic and sends personalised registration requests by text or email before appointments. It reports about 110,000 digital registrations a month, an estimated three to five minutes of staff time saved per registration, and a move from its first site to enterprise-wide in six months. It also reports $1.7 million in copays collected during pre-visit registration and $3.3 million in annual value under a joint-committee attribution model.
The same story shows outreach, not just forms. MUSC identified more than 30,000 women overdue for a mammogram and contacted them in their preferred language and channel. On the first evening, 147 appointments were booked without staff involvement. At Montage Health, a Notable-run study reports digital intake rising from under 20% to around 50% within six weeks, and 17,000 charts reviewed for care gaps in the first year.
Editorial recommendation: pilot one workflow, registration, and check that it writes back into your EHR the way MUSC's does. Then plan for front-desk change: MUSC retrained staff who used to hand every patient a clipboard. Notable lists HITRUST, SOC 2 Type II, PCI DSS and ISO 27001 on its trust page; ask for the reports.
Which tool for referrals and patient navigation?
Choose Commure when the job is referral intake or guided patient pathways, and when you want one vendor spanning front end and back end. Commure describes AI call agents, referral orchestration, revenue cycle automation and ambient documentation, integrated with 60+ EHRs. Documentation is covered in our separate scribe article, so it is left out here.
Compassus, a home-based care provider, co-developed Commure Orchestrator for referral intake. Commure reports a 64% reduction in referral decision time from ingestion across 79 home-based care programs. That is a vendor-reported figure for one customer's referral queue.
Mount Sinai Hospital used Commure Engage for a digital navigation program for joint-replacement patients in a CMS bundled-payment model. Three modules were prescribed from the EHR and sent timed messages on medication, exercise and preparation. The page reports length of stay of 2.81 days versus 4.31, readmissions of 1.9% versus 2.9%, and 87.8% versus 65.3% discharged home. The figures come from a 2019 published study, so they describe an earlier program.
Editorial recommendation: Orchestrator and Engage solve different problems, an intake queue and a patient pathway. Ask which one you are buying and which EHR integration it uses.
Which tool for operating-room scheduling and capacity?
Qventus is the specialist for surgical and inpatient flow. It sells AI operational assistants for surgical growth, perioperative care coordination and inpatient discharge planning, embedded in EHR workflows.
West Tennessee Healthcare, a seven-hospital system, started with 42 ORs across three facilities and planned 56 by fall 2024. Its surgical services director described replacing faxing, calling and repeated emailing to schedule cases. Qventus' later release reports 9% orthopedic growth and a record 61 cases from independent surgeons and clinic schedulers in the first 100 days.
Northwestern Medicine is named among the Innovation Cohort for Qventus' Perioperative Care Coordination Solution, launched in January 2025, which gives each pre-admission testing team member an AI assistant. The early results Qventus reports, 20% of patients identified for optimisation, are aggregated across partners, not Northwestern's own.
Data handling decides this one. Qventus' trust center lists SOC 2 and HIPAA audit reports and names subprocessors including AWS, Databricks, Google Workspace and OpenAI for engineering. Ask what patient data reaches each.
Imaging triage, quality gaps, pathology: who fits?
Aidoc's aiOS runs clinical AI inside PACS, EHR, RIS and scheduling systems, with algorithms for stroke, pulmonary embolism, hemorrhage and fractures that notify care teams. Temple Health is its named case-study customer for AI-driven triage; University Hospitals and Mercy are also confirmed. The first test is which of your PACS and worklist systems it connects to.
Innovaccer fits organisations whose data sits in many EMRs. Orlando Health, a clinically integrated network with over 9,000 providers, unifies more than 90 feeds across Epic and 40+ ambulatory EHRs, and Innovaccer reports 86% patient engagement and $907K incremental revenue from outreach. Optimus Healthcare Partners, an ACO across 30+ EMRs, embeds quality-gap alerts at the point of care.
PathAI is for pathology labs. Independent labs Quantum Pathology and GoldPath adopted AISight in 2024 after comparing image management systems, aiming at faster turnaround. Both releases footnote AISight as research use only; PathAI's site lists an FDA clearance of AISight Dx for primary diagnosis in June 2025. Confirm which version you are buying. PathAI also announced a definitive agreement to be acquired by Roche in May 2026.
What are US peers adopting, and what does it suggest?
Every peer below is CONFIRMED. Summa Health uses Commure, in a story about ambient documentation. Optimus Healthcare Partners uses Innovaccer. MUSC Health uses Notable. University Hospitals uses Aidoc. Northwestern Medicine uses Qventus and also PathAI. Cleveland Clinic uses Cohere Health, and Quest Diagnostics uses PathAI. Piedmont Healthcare uses Viz.ai, rolled out across 11 hospitals remotely with limited IT involvement.
What it suggests, as our reading: each job has a different named adopter, so there is no single hospital AI platform to default to. Shortlist the vendor whose peer matches your EHR and size. These peer pages show adoption only; the workflow evidence above comes from MUSC, Montage, Mount Sinai, Compassus and West Tennessee.
What transfers to a smaller hospital or clinic group?
Our recommendation, based on the documented shapes. Copy the single-workflow start: MUSC began with registration and intake, and Montage began with registration before adding care gaps and then referrals at a few showcase sites. Copy the staffing shape: Montage's digital health lead worked as a department of one with the vendor's team. West Tennessee began with three facilities' ORs rather than all.
What does not transfer is scale and dollars. MUSC's 110,000 monthly registrations, its $3.3 million annual value and Mount Sinai's length-of-stay figures belong to large systems with their own baselines. Set your own baseline for no-shows, check-in time or referral turnaround before go-live.
What the public record does not show
Prices are not published in these sources; they are the first question for each vendor. All figures above are vendor- or customer-reported, not independent tests, and the case studies use different metrics and baselines, so none can be ranked. MUSC's story gives two different figures for reallocated staff time, 1,300 hours a week in the text and 5,000-plus hours a month in the highlights, so neither is used. The customer stories read here show front-end collections, not full revenue cycle results.
As of 2026-10-25, usedby lists 125 hospital and care-provider companies with a Healthcare AI tool: 69 CONFIRMED and 56 OBSERVED. These are counts of named companies, not market share.
Method and limits
2026-10-25
Scope: 125 companies classified in Hospitals & Care Providers on usedby with a public line on a Healthcare AI tool. Every count on this page covers this sector only, not the tools' whole customer base. Company size is not recorded and is not claimed.
This dated snapshot counts distinct companies in public customer evidence. CONFIRMED means a case study, named testimonial or press source; DECLARED means the company itself told usedby; OBSERVED means a vendor listing; SIGNAL means a job post. All four count, but their strength differs. Removed and unlevelled lines are excluded. Examples are a capped selection verified within 90 days. Vendor facts are sourced records checked within 60 days. Coverage is uneven and missing evidence is unknown. These figures measure neither market share nor product performance; capture dates are not adoption dates.
